Southern Bayou Surf-and-Turf Fries:
Ingredients:
For the Fries:
3 large potatoes, cut into thick fries
2 tbsp oil
Salt and paprika, to taste
For the Surf-and-Turf Topping:
1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 lb steak (ribeye or sirloin), cut into bite-sized pieces
1 tbsp butter
1 clove garlic, minced
1 bell pepper, diced
1/2 onion, diced
1 tsp Cajun seasoning
1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a mix)
Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Fries
1. Preheat the Oven: Heat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. Season the Potatoes: Cut the potatoes into thick fries. Toss them in a bowl with oil, salt, and paprika until evenly coated.
3. Bake the Fries: Lay the fries in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake for about 25-30 minutes or until golden and crispy, flipping them halfway through.
Step 2: Cook the Surf-and-Turf
1. Cook the Steak: In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the steak pieces for 3-5 minutes until browned and cooked to your desired level of doneness. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
2. Cook the Shrimp: In the same skillet, add butter and sauté the shrimp until pink and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
3. Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add a little more butter if needed. Sauté the bell pepper, onion, and garlic until tender, about 3 minutes.
4. Combine the Surf and Turf: Return the cooked steak and shrimp to the skillet with the sautéed vegetables. Add Cajun seasoning and stir to combine. Cook for another 2 minutes.
Step 3: Assemble the Dish
1. Layer the Fries: Once the fries are cooked, arrange them on a serving platter.
2. Top with Surf-and-Turf: Spoon the steak, shrimp, and vegetable mixture on top of the fries.
3. Add Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top and place the platter under the broiler for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
4. Garnish and Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
Enjoy your delicious
